My work with children mainly focuses on being present, and providing them the attention and support to meet their needs. I  offer boundaries and security,  listen to their stories and experiences, while assisting with  integrating their reality with their feelings and external circumstances.  This helps them process confusing, painful and scary emotions by using play, art and sand tray therapy. As a mother myself I have a very strong understanding of the difficulties parents encounter raising their children, including academic performance, discipline, depression, divorce and/or blended family related issues, among others.   When friends or family members inquire about the dynamic with my daughter, I always respond that having a child is the most amazing and at the same challenging aspect of my life. Being a parent does not only imply being caring and loving, but also to consistently become more aware of how we project our own fears or issues onto our children based on our upbringing, and how not make them responsible for our own pain or stress. Based on my personal and extensive professional experience, I always consider it  is imperative to involve parents in the child therapeutic process. This helps them gain a clearer understanding of their interaction with their children, the children’s behavior and feelings and how to create a more stable dynamic with them and other family members.
